First day box-office collection of 'Dhoom 3'

YRF’s ‘Dhoom 3’ opened with a bang in India. The film had a great advance booking which is much higher compared to ‘Ek Tha Tiger’ and ‘Chennai Express’. The film showed occupancy of 95 to 100% in the morning show. The film also opened remarkably overseas.th film was released in more than 4500 screens in India which is first time ever and 700 in international markets.

Aamir Khan, Katrina Kaif, Abhishek Bachchan and Uday Chopra starrer, ‘Dhoom 3’ is expected to make 40 crore plus business at the box-office in the opening day summing the numbers of Tamil, Telugu and Hindi version and will cross 100 crores in three days. Speculation is high that the film has made 45 crore in the opening day by totaling the domestic and international box-office numbers.

Since it is release around Christmas and New Year, it has an advantage and moreover the film also had not pressure of last week release as all the past releases are washed out of cinema hall. Since the film had a working day release, Friday the opening collection would be bit low but it grow up in weekends. It is the first film releasing in Pakistan after lifting the ban of Indian film release in the country. In this case also the film has an advantage.

Gautam Dutta, COO of PVR Cinemas, said, “The movie has opened exceedingly well. Going by the response for the first day, it doesn’t feel like it’s a working Friday. The first day shows witnessed high occupancies… on an average of 90 per cent.”

He said that for the first time, a movie has seen huge advance booking. “We believe the movie will have a repeat value and would have a good run for the next three-four weeks.”

Dubbed in Tamil and Telugu, the movie is available in 2 D and IMAX format.

Added Ashish Saksena, COO of Big Cinemas, “It has seen a massive opening and we are expecting this to be one of the biggest weekends. It looks like franchise movies are now establishing themselves as the audience knows what to expect.”

Trade analyt KOmal Mehta informed that ‘’Dhoom 3’ had an extraordinary opening at the box-office without citing the numbers.

‘Chennai Express’ made an opening day collection of 33 crores and trade analyst feels ‘Dhoom 3’ will beat all the opening day records of all the past releases and set a historic record.

Directed by Vijay Krishna Acharya, ‘Dhoom 3’ the third instalment of the successful franchise is the last big release of the year.

‘Dhoom 3’ Teaser Released: Aamir Khan, Katrina Kaif Set Pulse Racing in Action Avatars [VIDEO]

The much-anticipated "Dhoom 3" teaser has finally been released on Wednesday.

The 1.37-minute long teaser of the action-packed film features a bare-backed Aamir Khan facing the Chicago skyline, as earlier revealed in the film's motion teaser.

The clean cut teaser has the superstar rendering a dialogue as a narration in a scene shows him bike-bourne and evading the police. One sequence shows Abhishek Bachchan aiming a gun at his target while dangling from a helicopter. And then there is his aide Uday Chopra on a fast bike.

The stellar moment is Katrina Kaif's first look in a sexy avatar with some rope work. Even though the shot is a brief one it leaves us craving for more.

While Aamir comes across as a fine criminal mastermind with an ability to dodge the police with his sliding-under the truck attempt but we would say we have seen this before.

The Vijay Krishna Arya-directed flick with its high-end stunts and adrenaline-packed chase scenes could not evoke what one would call an "absorbing" first look. 

Abhishek is the same bland cop with the helicopter act, while Uday continues his escapades on fast bikes when sleek cars would have been an inviting change.

The only striking features which come across the teaser are Aaamir's hat look, a thuggish entry but yet again we are reminded of Batman's Joker scene in which there is a glimpse of a mask-like logo at the 0.15 second of the teaser. Here, we should add that the motion poster of "Dhoom 3" was a copy of the "Batman" international poster.

Also, there is a lot of excitement with Katrina Kaif in the action-heist series.

The film is due for a release on 25 December, targetting the Christmas holiday spirit.
