Loafer 2013 – Movie Review

Nepali movie ‘Loafer’ was released on December 6, 2013 in theaters all over Nepal. The movie could manage to create a good hype in media because the producer Chhabi Raj Ojha. Chhabi, who had been continuously working with Rekha Thapa for the last decade, had replaced Rekha with a new actress Rajani KC in ‘Loafer’. In addition to that, the movie is also the first movie of Chhabi Raj Ojha, that is especially targeted to multiplex audiences. The movie directed by Aditya Bikram Lamsal features artists Aryan Sigdel, Dayahang Rai, Rajani KC, and Kamal Mani Nepal in leading roles.

Story:

‘Loafer’ is a story of Bhanta played by Dayahang Rai.  Bhanta joins two friends and one driver drinking wine in a bar. The party went on for the the whole night. In the next morning, they found an unconscious girl in their car. A news that the the girl, who happened to be the daughter of a Minister, kidnaped by a gang was published in every major newspapers.

The news and the unconscious girl left  Bhanta and other three worried. They planned to take girl to a farm house at Godawari. They were supposed to wait there for the girl to become conscious and they could send her back to her home. But when they reach to Godawari, they changed the plan. Now, the girl is really kidnapped by  Bhanta and the driver. On another side, an inspector, Sigdel,  investigating this case finds out the whereabouts of the girl. But, when Sigdel reaches the farm house, at Godavari, the real suspense of the movie unfolds. To know what the real suspense of the movie and the story of Bhunte, you can visit one of the almost 100 theatres the movie is running in.

Strength and Weakness:

‘Loafer’ has a very good story to start with. The story appeals to the the audience of multiplex theaters. Popular star cast of the movie is another major plus point of the movie. The audience of the city areas and multiplexes know the artists well. The director Aditya Bikram Lamsal however has been failed to present the excellent story and well known actors in an effective way.

‘Loafer’ is a good example of how a good story concept and good actors are not enough to win the heart of multiplexes audiences. The movie has failed in irritating ways for the audience of city areas. The overall presentation and background music do not seem fresh. Most of the scenes of the movie seem like stale scenes that people have watched before. The action scenes and songs don’t relate to the flow of the story.

In a few scenes, Kamal Mani Nepal has been successful in makes the audience laugh with his dialogue delivery style and facial expression. In a lot of scenes, the movie will give a feel of ‘Loot‘.  But, weak screenplay and weak presentation has ruined the good story of the movie.

Loud background music might work for the single-screen audience, but it doesn’t work well in multiplexes.

Star Cast:

The lead actor of the movie, Dayahang Rai is a good actor. But, in ‘Loafer’ he doesn’t have anything new to offer to the audience.  The movie revolves around the character  Bhanta but the character hasn’t been able to win the heart of audiences.

Aryan Sigdel, featured as inspector Sigdel sounds and acts like the police officers usually seen in most of the Bollywood movies. Such a character is so common in movies, the audiences can’t find anything new in Sigdel’s role. In essence – Aryan Sigdel and Dayahang Rai can perform much better than what they have done in ‘Loafer’.

The lead actress Rajani KC got a lot of free publicity because of the fact that she replaced Rekha Thapa in one of of Chhabi Raj Ojha’s film. Although she got a good publicity, the entry hasn’t helped her much as she doesn’t have a role that can prove her talents. Rajani seem to have done an special appearance. She hardly delivers five lines of dialogue and for acting she hasn’t been able to justify the expression of a kidnapped girl.

Kamal Mani Nepal’s performance is funny. Although his dialogues are funny he could have done more.

In essence, the director had failed to use the full potential of the actors strength of actors to make it a good movie and please the audience of multiplexes.

Conclusion:

The story and concept of ‘Loafer’ is very good. Chhabi has done a good attempt to woo young audience with good story and artists.

But, the presentation failed miserably. Chhabi Raj Ojha has failed in catering the audience of multiplex theaters by ‘Loafer’. It seems, he is not yet ready to appeal to the young generation. The director has failed in presentation and utilizing the artist’s potential.

My recommendation: Forget the movie and save your money and time.

Megha Nepali Movie 2014 Music Video Previews – Tribute to Late Gopal Yonjan

Three music videos of upcoming of upcoming movie ‘Megha’ featuring Namrata Shrestha, Raymon Das Shrestha and Siddhartha Koirala, filmed on the music and the lyrics of late Gopal Yonjan were recently released. The video choreographed by Kamal Rai, ‘Mero Joban Laijau’, ‘Yeti Chokho” and ‘Kali Pani Dekhe …’ are popular songs among Nepali music lovers.

The movie directed by Samjhana Upreti Rauniar is made on a story of the relationship of a upper-middle-class architect Megha, played by Namrata, with her husband Ishan, played by Raymon and her lover Gaurav, played by Siddhartha Koirala.

Keki Adhikari’s Nepali Movie 'Biteka Pal' to release on Jaunary 10, 2014

Although Keki Adhikari is well established as a music video model, there aren’t many movies she had acted. After debuting in ‘Swor’ Keki did movies like ‘I am Sorry’, ‘Masan’ and ‘Mahasush’. Keki is appreciated for her acting skills in the movies.

Keki’s next movie ‘Biteka Pal’ is scheduled to release on Poush 26 (January 10, 2013). The movie made on triangular love story features actors Abinash Gurung and Babu Bogati opposite to Keki. The direcctor Suraj Subba ‘Nalbo’ claims that the upcoming movie is one of the best movies of Keki. He also appreciated Keki’s acting skills.

‘Biteka Pal’ is produced jointly by Rajesh Ghatani and Krish Rijal. Most of the shooting of the movie was done in Darjeeling.

Chha Ekan Chha- New Nepali Movie to release on 10th January, 2014

The ‘Chha Ekan Chha’ film unit organized a press meet at Union House, Anamnagar, Kathmandu to announce the release date of the movie. The movie is scheduled to release on Poush 26 (January 10, 2013).

Talking about he movie, the producer and the writer of the movie, Deepak Raj Giri told that the movie is a totally entertainment movie. He promised, “The movie will bind the viewers in seat for 2:15 hours.

The co-producer and assistant director Deepa Shree Niraula stated that the movie is the result of the investment of “all the name and credit” they have gained so far in the entertainment industry. Actor and co-producer Nirmal Sharma told that the movie is the result of the experience he has gained by producing half-a-dozen flop films. Although he doesn’t expect the movie to be super-hit, he expect it to do a satisfactory business.

There are six leading actors and one lead actress – Neeta Dhungana, in ‘Chha Ekan Chha’. Actor Shiva Hari Poudel (Mukhama Hannu Jasto)expressed his satisfaction to do a leading actor role at the age of 47. Another actor Sandip Chhetri also expressed his satisfaction on his role as a leading actor. Other leading actors include Jitu Nepal (Mundre), Kedar Ghimire (Magne Budho), Sitaram Kattel (Dhurmus) and Deepak Raj Giri. Neeta claimed that the movie has become the best movie she has done so far.

The movie directed by Dinesh DC features the script of Jagadishowr Thapa and music of Sambhujit Baskota. The title song of the movie is recorded on the voice of Hari Bansha Acharya, Kiran KC and the director Dinesh DC.

Nepali Film – Himmat 2 (2013) | Watch Online Nepali Movie HIMMAT-2 FREE

‘Himmat 2′ is a sequel of hit movie ‘Himmat’ featuring Rekha Thapa and directed by Deepak Shrestha. The sequel is produced and directed by Deepak himself but, it doesn’t feature Rekha. Rekha reportedly wasn’t happy with Deepak on making the movie without consulting her.

‘Himmat 2′ is a female-oriented movie and was released at the time of the biggest festival of women – Teej. The movie was released in Bhadra 25, 2067 (September 10, 2010) in the theaters out of Kathmandu. In Kathmandu it was released after almost three years, on April 26, 2013. On the initial release in 2010, the film makers had also offered a handkerchief as a gift to every viewers of the movie on the Teej day (Bhadra 26).

The movie features the actress Yuna Upreti in double role – a simple girl and a rebel girl. Both Biraj Bhatt and comedy actor Shree Krishna Luitel are also featured in double roles in the movie.

The movie is produced by the director, Deepak Shrestha, through his own home production. About the story of the movie, Deepak says that every person has two characters and the movie is made to show the dual characters of people through double roles of the lead actors.

At the time of the delayed release of the movie in Kathmandu, the lead actors weren’t available for the promotion of the movie. Biraj Bhatt was in Mumbai and the actress Yuna Upready had relocated to the USA.

Hari Bansha Acharya sang a song in ‘Chha Ekan Chha’

The ‘Ha’ of MaHa, Hari Bansha Acharya had sung a song in an upcoming movie ‘Chha Ekan Chha’. The comedy movie produced by Deepak Raj Giri features popular comedy actors in leading roles. The song titled ‘Mero Maya Timilai’ also features the voice of another comedy actor, Kiran KC.

For Hari Bansha, it wasn’t easy singing after a long gap. In the past, he had given voice to a number of songs and had also released a music album. The recording was done on the second week of November.

‘Chha Ekan Chha’ is a production of Deepak Raj Giri and is being directed by Dinesh DC. The movie features six popular comedy actors in leading roles and will be release in January.

Apart from acting and singing, Hari Bansha has also proved to be a fine writer after the instant success of his biography ‘China Harayako Manche’.

Nepali Movie Tarzan released on November 15

Nepali movie ‘Nepali Tarzan’ has been released in theaters in Kathmandu on Friday, November 15. The movie by director Yadav Silwal was previously released in theaters out of Kathmandu three years ago.

‘Nepali Tarzan’ features Shyam Katuwal in leading character of Tarzan. The character is brought up in jungle and behaves like wild animals. The movie is targeted to children.

Yadav Silwal is known for directing the controversial movie ‘ATM‘ and the last release ‘Manav’.

Soongava to release again in Kathmandu theaters

After being nominated to the Oscars Awards from Nepal, the movie is going to be re-released for the viewers who had missed during the previous screening. In the previous screening, it had faced lower than expected viewers.

According to the distributor, Eye Core Entertainment, the movie will be screened for 20 days with one show each day in Mandala Theater and multiplex theater in Kathmandu.

‘Soongava’ features a lesbian love story between the characters played by Deeya Maskey and Nisha Adhikari. The movie also features Saugat Malla in leading role. The movie directed by Subarna Thapa had been selected in various film festivals and it has also won some awards in some of them. Last month, it had won a Jury Award in Italy film Festival.

Unheard movies are releasing just before Dashain festival 2070

At the time of the biggest festival in Nepal, Vijaya Dashami, two movies releasing on October 4 are mostly unheard of. The movies named ‘Papi Raat’ and ‘AK 47′ aren’t much advertised and aren’t expected to attract much audience.

‘Papi Raat’ was shot 2.5 years ago and features Sushil Chhetri, Sumina Ghimire , Saroj KC, Ramesh Budhathoki etc. The movie directed by Shyam KC is made under Jenim Films banner and produced by Yuvaraj Khatri. The movie features the music of Anand Khatri and choreography of Govinda Rai. The cinematographer of the movie is Shiva Dhakal.

Another new release ‘AK 47′ is directed by Brilliant Bista. The movie made by Bishal Films banner features Bishal Bista, Milan Sapkota, Bini Khatiwada, Sushil Pokharel, Deepak Chhetri, Dilip Thakuri etc. in main roles. This movie was also shot three years ago.
